the dress she wore for the inauguration I liked better than this one, and the girls looked very cute in their coats. This one looks a bit mummy-wrapish to me. Maybe it's just the angle? I too cried through the inauguration, but probably for different reasons than most of america. I fear what changes he will bring to our country. Hopefully they are good ones (no pun intended)!
I didn't know that the gloves were J.Crew but now it makes me love them more. I loved both outfits, but I was reading on BBC how people thought she was wearing yellow curtains. I thought she look fabulous and I am so glad she didn't wear a typical red suit.
I'm all about the clothes. I would have liked this gown without the 'strap'. It's just too wide to me. Maybe if it was thinner, or if the dress was strapless or spaghetti straps?? That said, I think she's stunning.
I think that Michelle Obama is beautiful. I loved her outfit for the inauguration but wasn't as much of a fan of the white dress. I think she could have worn something a little more flattering but when you are as beautiful as she is you can pretty much pull off anything.
I live in DC and passed on the whole affair. I too hope and pray he will work to bring the changes he has proposed, but it will take a lot of hard work on the part of all Americans.
I'm not a fan of the white ball gown. It looks like one of those bridal shower game creations (you know the ones where you make bridal gowns out of toliet paper and cotton balls.......maybe I had to many friends get married right after high school.... :) )
I LOVED both dresses. classy. I loved the lacy dress and coat that matched. the off the shoulder dress was a little more skin than i have ever seen a first lady show-and she pulled it off fabulously.
The tears for me were a cleansing for the last 8 years ( I even voted for him the first go around). I am glad Obama is our President. I am proud to be an American! Michelle Obama in my book is beautiful and may I add she looks at her husband and is so in love with him and proud!
First time commenter...love your blog, by the way! What a great perspective you provide! I just think it is fun to catch up on your adventures!
I will admit, I am not an Obama fan, but I was very excited about the inauguration, because lets face it, it is absolutely historic...I also believe in supporting the President, so the moment he was elected, whether I voted for him or not, he earned my support.
As for Michelle, I thought she looked lovely. Even more important than her looks, however, I am much more impressed by her intelligence and accomplishments. I think she has a lot to offer, beyond just fashion and hosting dinner parties, and look forward to that!
Keep up the great adventures! By the way, I own a John Pinnette DVD and when you said that you were gluten free Natalie I rushed to teh DVD to listen and see if I could find the bit....I didn't, but it gives me a reason to keep searching out his act...he is HILARIOUS!
a diaphanous mercurial mormon's take on dating , culture, and her love affair with the big city.

I loved the green gloves! No surprise they're from J.Crew--I have a love affair with that place.
Yes! And I loved the little kiddies J Crew coats.

I didn't care much for the white dress, other than that it was amazing

I too am over the moon with the Obamas. I think the whole day was spectacular and I'm even more excited to see what he can do for our country.
Michelle is breathtaking. I thought she looked splendid in both outfits!
Glad to see another LDS girl who is pro-Obama!
