ok. i've been discovered.......

turns out, i was sort of a mormon rockstar
in my younger days....

you may remember me from such brilliant roles as
the annoying girl in the competition
singing
"the birds in june, they sing their cheery fa-la-la-la-la...."
in the mega-hit rigoletto
(starring my very dear friend, ivey)

when i was 9 years old,
sussy and i starred in
children's video songbook vol. 1 and 2
i got to tour with such mormon luminaries as julie de azevedo, afterglow, kenneth cope, bryce neubert, etc.....

for those of you who actually own one of these relics,
look for the moment when i unabashedly
pick my nose
on camera.
i'm so proud.

(we weren't in the volume pictured....but i guess, the original copies are out of print?)
info of the original cast {here}

as "julie" in the
25th anniversary commemorative recording of
saturday's warrior
"why wally kessler, you ought to be ashamed of yourself!!"

and the voice of "the seedling" in
michael mclean & bryce neubert's
the garden
(which is actually a beautiful oratorio-find it on itunes)

and for those of you who are familiar with LDS church seminary videos,
i get in a car accident because i was putting on mascara while driving
and other brilliant moments.....,
i'm on the cast recording for "unspoken song" for promised valley playhouse, and last year's lagoon amusement park commercial.....

oooh boy.
i used to be so famous.

You are way more famous than me... I was one of the children singing on the original Primary Children's Songbook recording (just the audio). I need to check out the Video Songbook now, I didn't even know it existed!

My sister just told me about your blog. I watch the Children's Songbook videos at LEAST three times a week with my little girl and loved watching them with my sister when we were little. They always calm my baby down. Rigoletto is still one of my favorite classics :)

oh I love the garden!

Oh, Natalie!!! I'm dying right now! I had no idea all this time that I had listened to your voice so many times! I used to only listen to the Garden on Sundays! LOL! Why I never put 2 & 2 together, I'll never know. I should have been way more intimidated to become your friend!
And ps- are you aware that your Saturday's Warrior recording is going for $279.95 on Amazon. . . NOT including shipping! I think you might still be a famous Momo!

Ohh my gosh, I knew you looked familiar! I can't count how many times I watched the Children's Video Songbook. You were totally my favorite of all the little kids. Sorry if that's creepy, but I was 7.

I feel pathetic that I have grown up being mormon the past 16 years and I haven't seen any of those videos! I'll probably run into one of them in seminary, but if I see one I'll totally know it's you!

I totally pulled out my parents' old vhs of Rigoletto and watched it just to see proof. AMAZING.

P.S. I love reading your blog, and in response to your post about the Church's press release: amen.

My daughter loves your version of "Wally Kessler.." I used to babysit for the deAzevedos when it was just Julie and her two sisters. They were in our ward and Lex used to write all our road show music. Needless to say we always won for original music. Keep on singing OK!

I TOTALLY remember Children's video songbook! My sibilings and I used to watch it all the time!!! I was wondering what happened to those. I've seen different members of the cast here and there around Utah and I always got so excited because I thought you were all so cool! hahaha
Good times.

Too cute that you were in it.

I love Rigoletto! I used to convince myself that since Ivey Lloyd is from Utah and I'm a Lloyd with family in Utah, that we must be related... after all the desire to perform must run in families, right?
I'm gonna have to buy Rigoletto from Amazon now... hopefully they have it on DVD, I bet my 4 year old daughter would love it!
And sorry this comment is on such an old post, I was googling mormon in manhattan since we are contemplating a move there. I wanted to see what church life was like, and lo and behold I find your very interesting blog! I've already stalked almost 1.5 years of your life.
