i have had many wonderful fb's who have given me incredibly thoughtful gifts.
my very first boyfriend who was not mormon (but a tony-nominee + ivy leaguer who taught me to love the taste of beer on his breath... not cause i like beer, because i loved him ;)
"gave" this song to me.
i believe he said this song was "me"
and i was delighted!
a song about black eyed girls??? epic!
those blue- eyed blonde- haired girls get ALL the tunes!
i've had a few songs thrown my way, ("i can't make you love me" is always fun to receive) but this song always pops onto my ipod when i need to hear it.
i definitely wasn't raised on ghetto streets and i may never be a girl that others wish that they could be......
but once upon a time (a long time ago, actually),
someone thought i was a girl that can't be beat.
a devastating beauty.
a pretty girl with ebony eyes.
and that is enough to brighten my day....
and today needed brightening.
thanks fb!

She's a Miss Beautiful Supreme
A girl that other wish that they could be
If there's seven wonders of the world
Then I know she's gotta be number one
She's a girl that can't be beat
Born and raised on ghetto streets
She's a devastating beauty
A pretty girl with ebony eyes
She's the sunflower of nature's seeds
A girl that some men only find in their dreams
When she smiles it seems the stars all know
Cause one by one they start to light up the sky
She's a girl that can't be beat
Born and raised on ghetto streets
She's a devastating beauty
A pretty girl with ebony eyes
A girl that can't be beat
Born and raised on ghetto streets
She's a devastating beauty
A pretty girl with ebony eyes
When she starts talking soft and sweet
Like birds of spring her words all seem to sing
With a rhythm that is made of love
And the happiness that she only brings
She's a girl that can't be beat
Born and raised on ghetto streets
She's a devastating beauty
A pretty girl with ebony eyes
A girl that can't be beat
Born and raised on ghetto streets
She's a devastating beauty
A pretty girl with ebony eyes
Yeah, yea, yea
.......yeah
Pretty black beauty
Yeah, yea yeah
Yea, yea, yeah, yea, yea, yeah
Yea, yea, yea, yea, yea, yea, yeah

aw cute! I'm glad you like your dark eyes! Mine are so dark that my family jokes that you can't tell the difference between my pupil and iris. I guess because you can't.
But I love my eye color, and wouldn't trade it for blue or green, *even* if they are more coveted.
Oooh girl! This song brough back too many memories. Dad dancing with any one of his five ebony eyed girls in the front room. For so long I didn't know there was anything BUT ebony eyes, no one around me had anything else. I WAS born on ghetto streets-- but it makes no difference, as long as you own those eyes all the way.
(I actually own this record (yes, vinyl), I can't get rid of it.)
That's really sweet. I love pick-me-up songs. This one definitely has a beat that could pick me up, even without the sentiment or ebony eyes.
Don't forget Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison. =) That is what my hubby sings to me.
Thanks for the song! I am loving it.
This is such a sweet post.
I love this song too...from one dark eyed girl to another!
I'm one of those blond haired, green eyed girls but I've got to say that I've ALWAYS envied the girls with the beautiful, dark exotic eyes. Maybe that's because everyone around me had blue eyes but they've always fascinated. I don't know you, but I'm sure your eyes are amazing. :D
And on a side note, the only song that I've ever had dedicated to me was from a guy I rejected in HS and it was "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-a-lot. To this day I giggle every time I hear it.
I love this song! I love Stevie Wonder! One of the best albums ever -- and lovely tribute.
