kosher pork

this weekend, i was on a date at a (more) sophisticated restaurant in provo, utah.
i was in a mood so when my date asked how the pork was prepared, i threw in a
question (mostly to make my date laugh):

me: is the pork kosher?
waiter: i think so. yes. well, let me double check with the chef.

bless his heart, i tried to grab him before he ran to the kitchen, but he was a quick escape artist.
thankfully, the chef thought it was hilarious.

how would he know?
there aren't many synagogues in provo.

Ha! That made me burst out laughing! I was a waitress at Red Robin while I went to BYU and I hated it when people asked me about the alcohol. I went through the requisite training but it all went in one ear and out the other. I know nothing about wine or microbrews and when people would ask I would always get blank-faced and embarrassed. I really feel for that guy.

bhaha! oh man...having just left the happy valley for Oregon not too long ago, this makes me laugh and cringe and miss my mountain home all at the same time.
